Who Sent You
WRITTEN BY CHRISTOPH BOUET
In a circle they stood and no one talked
The silence around was empty and lost
Some men and a girl who hid her hand
And when I came onto their land, I said:
"This soil is dead" "That's true"
She asked me: "Who sent you?"
There ain't no water
    There ain't no food
    The fields are dry
    We always try
    To get a sign
    From God
    But He just doesn't answer
Days later in the city, I walked along the street
Here in the south, it's hot and the asphalt burns my feet
A homeless man on a corner tried to smoke, then cried
When I passed by, he wanted me to fight
I gave him some water, clear and blue
He asked me: "Who sent you?"
Ain't got no shoes
    Ain't got a dime
    Just hungry and dry
    I always try
    To get a sign
    From God
    But He just doesn't answer
An old man seems to wake up in his manor
His mind is racing "What the hell caused this cancer?"
Saw him prayin' for his wife who got this news a week ago
He's runnin' down the street beggin' people
    "What do you know?"
"Why must she die?" I said "She's been poisoned by you!"
He asked me: "Who sent you?"
I got all the money
    I sold the world
    But I'll lose my wife
    I always try
    To get a sign
    From God
    But He just doesn't answer
    Just doesn't answer
