Roadkill Madness

WRITTEN BY CHRISTOPH BOUET

A stranger is coming and knocks on a door
The door is mine, but I'm not sure
Shall I open it up or run for my life
I grab the money and ride
A shark is huntin' for blood in the bay
The day I bite the dust will not be today
I get through the river, but my car is wrecked
A guy with a gun wants me to sing
The song of the dead
One black dog got lost on the road
Two red birds fall from above
Four white cops fightin' on a crossing
A spaceship keeps rocking

Roadkill Madness
Don't you know
All your sadness
Keeps it growin'

I take a hike to the next gas station
Some coffee and pie, but the conversation
With the farmer and the waitress is dry
I beg for a ride
She doesn't care, so I steer her wagon
She wants to sleep on the backseat
With her little dragon
She had a hard night, but I think about gettin' her
Right by my side
She takes the wheel and she drives fast
Nothin' here to keep my soul and my heart. At last
She stops and laughs, walks to the front
Roadkill meat ends up in the trunk
Just a sparrow

The motel under the tree is driving me insane
No color TV, but there's Cooper and Wayne
On a ride-along and I know I'm the only one
Who ever saw it
I lay my hands under the pillow
I find some pills and I swallow
Then start to see the river hag, scrapin' my back
And biting my body
The night was great, but is getting so bad
This devil's lair won't give me back
And keep a soul like mine in the endless night
I call for Mary

Roadkill Madness
Don't you know
All your sadness
Keeps it growin'
