On The Road

WRITTEN BY CHRISTOPH BOUET

He's standin' like a ghost
Hitchikin' through the night
Walkin' by the side of the road
Thumbin' for a ride
He looks out for the city
Ain't no light out there
The wind blows cold and chilly
And the last leaves fell

Hitchhiker on the road
He was out for a while
And a young girl died alone
Gave the wrong man a ride

And the cops found the body
And her dress was ripped apart
They found a letter from daddy
And some money for her start

I keep drivin' on the road
Gotta get me through the night
Til the shadows in my mind return
In the early mornin' light
"Hey man how ya' doin'
Where you wanna go?"
"Gotta go nowhere
Just away from the snow."

And the cops found the body
And her dress was ripped apart
They found a letter from daddy
And some money for her start
On the road

He looks at me
And he smiles like a child
He said: "My mind is free!"
But his eyes are so wild

And the cops found the body
And her dress was ripped apart
They found a letter from daddy
And some money for her start
On the road
