Hey Man! This Ain't No Place For Me

WRITTEN BY CHRISTOPH BOUET

I wrote my book leaf by leaf
I got tired and fell to sleep
I dreamt a dream of new york city
The streets so straight the air so sticky
I saw a man on a horse like a king
His clothes shone white on dark brown skin
He came across the bridge of brooklyn
I heard a yellin' from behind again

Hey man! This ain't no place for me
Hey man! This ain't no place for me
Hey man! This ain't no place for me

A bird sat down on my window sill
Red clouds piled up over the hill
Fairy dust behind the pane
Railroad tracks for whistlin' trains
I took a walk around the block
A little girl poked some dead frogs
An old man pulled the leash of his dog
I swear I heard the dog say

Hey man! This ain't no place for me
Hey man! This ain't no place for me
Hey man! This ain't no place for me

I ran down to the ocean bay
I had fun, found a place to stay
Then death crossed my way
While listenin' Coney Island babe
He said hello and shook my hand
And lay down on the sand
And asked me "Did you lose your head?"
And put six dollars in my bag and said

Hey man! This ain't no place for me
Hey man! This ain't no place for me
Hey man! This ain't no place for me
Hey man!
Hey man!
